Frequently Asked Questions
Fees & Insurance
-
I’m a private pay therapist, which means I don’t work directly with insurance companies and I’m considered an out of network provider.
Many clients still get part of their sessions reimbursed through their out-of-network benefits. If you’d like to try, I can give you a superbill, which is a detailed receipt you submit to your insurance company. Before we start, it helps to call your insurer and ask what your plan covers for out-of-network outpatient mental health care.
Working outside of insurance lets our work be shaped by what you need, rather than by what an insurance plan will approve. You won’t need a diagnosis just to qualify for care, and we decide together how often we meet and for how long. Your information also stays between us and does not get shared with insurance companies.

I accept cash, check, Mastercard or VISA and Venmo or Zelle.
Logistics & Policies
-
I offer both in person sessions at my office in Newton, MA and virtual sessions.
-
We will meet according to what is best for you and your schedule.
-
When you schedule a session, that time is reserved exclusively for you. If you need to cancel or reschedule your appointment, I require at least 24 hours notice. Cancellations or missing an appointment will result in the full session fee being charged. You can cancel or reschedule by calling me, texting me or emailing me. Note: I understand that unexpected emergencies and sudden illnesses happen. Exceptions to this policy may be made on a case-by-case basis.
Getting Started
-
The “fit” between a client and therapist is very personal and usually takes a few sessions to feel out rather than knowing instantly. A good fit usually looks like feeling safe enough to be honest, feeling like I actually understand what you’re trying to work through and feeling respected to work at your own pace.
-
We will chat on the phone for about 15 minutes about what you’re looking for and you can ask me questions about how I work or any other questions that come up for you.
Have more questions? Feel free to email me at milanamint@yahoo.com.
